노인의 사회적지지가 노년의 주관적 행복감에 미치는 영향 = A Study on the Effects of Social Support on the Subjective Happiness of the elderly People

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of social support and the subjective happiness of the elderly people. Depression and mental deterioration of elderly people have relation to higher suicide rate recently. In today``s aging society, the subjective happiness reinforces mental health and is the main issue of the basis of successful aging. The data was collected from 280 of the aged over 65 years old who had been attending in Senior Welfare Center and Elderly College in Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. The results showed that social support was positively associated with subjective happiness to help mental health of the elderly people. Especially emotional support on sub factor of social support had significant positive influence on subjective happiness of the elderly women. Therefore various welfare programs and social support for the elderly people should be developed and provided to improve subjective happiness.
