가족관계와 부모와의 의사소통이 청소년의 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감과 충동성의 매개효과 = The Effects of Family Relations and Parent-Adolescent Communication on Adolescents` Smartphone Addiction Symptoms: Examining the Mediating Role of Self-esteem and Impulsivity

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family relations and parent-adolescent communication on adolescents` smartphone addiction symptoms. Furthermore, this study aimed to examine the mediating role of self-esteem and impulsivity between factors. Three hundred and forty-five middle school students in Seoul completed questionnaires, and results revealed that family relations, parent-adolescent communication, and self-esteem were negatively correlated with smartphone addiction symptoms, whereas impulsivity was positively correlated with smartphone addiction symptoms. Regression analyses showed that family relations and parent-adolescent communication had significant effects on smartphone addiction symptoms. The relationship of family relations and parent-adolescent communication with smartphone addiction symptoms was partially mediated by self-esteem and impulsivity. Utilizing mediating variables such as self-esteem and impulsivity has clear implications for prevention for vulnerable adolescents for smartphone addiction. The findings also suggest the importance of family relations and parent-adolescent communication as potential targets for counseling and intervention.
