자존감의 안정성 척도 개발 및 타당화 = Development of Self-Esteem Stability Scale

In this study, limitations of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale often used in measuring Global Self-Esteem were discussed and a Stability of Self-Esteem Scale was developed and validated. Self-Esteem is one of the most common topics in many areas of psychology. Recent studies showed that, a level and stability of self-esteem develops differently across lifespan. Additionally, previous research illustrated that Stability of Self-Esteem is the protective factor to many mental diseases and psychological disorders. However, no validated self-report scale is yet available to measure Stability of Self-Esteem. In the current study, a Stability of Self-Esteem Scale was developed and validated by confirmatory factor analysis and its usefulness and validity was demonstrated by convergent, criterion and incremental validity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 전반적인 자존감을 측정하기 위해 주로 사용하고 있는 Rosenberg 자존감 척도(Self-Esteem Scale)의 한계를 극복하고 자존감의 안정성을 측정할 수 있는 새로운 척도를 개발하고 타당화하는 데 목적이 있다. 자존감은 심리학적 문헌에서 가장 자주 등장하는 주제 중 하나이며 가장 관심을 가지는 주제이다. 그러한 관심을 반영하듯 자존감의 측정방식에 대한 문제가 계속적으로 제기되고 있으며, 자존감에 대한 선행연구들은 전반적인 자존감의 수준과 자존감의 안정성이 서로 다른 발달적 과정을 가지는 구성개념이며, 자존감의 안정성은 여러 정신질환에 대한 중요한 예측변인임을 밝히고 있다. 하지만, 자존감의 안정성을 측정할 수 있는 타당화된 자기보고식 척도는 아직 개발되지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 시간과 상황에 걸친 자존감의 안정성을 측정할 수 있는 문항들을 Rosenberg 자존감 척도에 기초하여 ‘자존감의 안정성 척도(Stability of Self-Esteem Scale; SSES)를 개발하고 타당화하였다. 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 통해 개발한 척도의 요인구조를 확인하였으며, 신뢰도와 수렴 타당도를 검증하였다. 또한 정신질환에 미치는 자존감 안정성 척도의 증분타당도를 살펴보았다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의미와 한계를 논의하였다.
