Purpose: This study attempted to compare the relationships between nurse image, satisfaction of major, and satisfaction in clinical practice in a diploma nursing students.
Method: A descriptive research design was used in this study. The participants were 293 nursing students in J city who were surveyed between August 2 and August 10, 2011 using self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 14.0 Program, which determined frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheff test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression analysis.
Result: There were positive correlation between nurse image and satisfaction of major, nurse image and satisfaction in clinical practice, and satisfaction of manor and satisfaction in clinical practice. There was positive correlation between satisfaction of major and satisfaction in clinical practice for nursing students. The predictors influencing satisfaction in clinical practice for nursing student were nurse image and satisfaction of major. Two factors explained 41.0% of satisfaction in clinical practice of nursing students.
Conclusion: It is necessary to enhance positive recognition on nurse image to improve satisfaction major and satisfaction in clinical practice of nursing students. In order to increase of satisfaction in clinical practice, it is important to consider reform efficient communication skills between professor and nursing students.
