글로벌 시민교육의 쟁점과 과제 = Some Issues and Tasks of Global Citizenship Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to explore the concept and the purpose of global citizenship education, to scrutinize controversial issues of global citizenship education, and finally to suggest some developmental tasks of global citizenship education. The purpose of global citizenship education can be summarized as critical citizenship education, transformative citizenship education, practical citizenship education. Relation with the purpose and contents of global citizenship education, we can discuss some controversial issues as followings: global solidarity vs global competition; the dilemma of global universality and particularity; the possibility of transformative citizenship education. In order to enhance the effectiveness of school global citizenship education, some developmental tasks of global citizenship education can be shown as next: the harmonious balance between the particular and the universal; the emphasis of the values of diversity, tolerance, and critique; the reinforcement of democratic global citizenship education and the teacher education of global citizenship education.
