북한의 시장화와 젠더정치 = The Marketization and Gender Politics in North Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper to discuss the possibility of transformation in the gender order due to the marketization in North Korea, analyzing gendered characteristics of North Korean markets, the national policy response marketization and the women`s practices. Though the market is a place where it causes economic, cultural, and social changes for women, it has limitations as a result of the gendered characteristics of market itself. The structure of market and the capital is reflected the existing gender hierarchy and ideology of North Korea. And the nation reinforces the discourses for women and amend the law to restrict women`s change. However, the possibility of the change of gender order remains. North Korean women is creating a market as their own space despite the structural constraints inherent in the market itself and the situation under national controls. And various women`s practices is appeared and it conduct the subjectivity of women. The emergence of women subject implies the possibility to change the gender order in North Korea.
