This paper investigates the reading motivators of the secondary students in Korea through theoretic-tentative reading motivation questionnaire. This paper`s subject has 2,221 secondary students(male 1,143/ female 1,118), their responses is analyzed. The conclusion says that the reading motivators are social interaction, recognitionimportance, reading efficacy, interest, involvement. The five factors have 49.955% explanation variance, the first factor ‘social interaction’ of them has 30.360% explanation variance. And it says that reading motivators of the secondary students reduce as to elementary students` reading motivators. The former is 5, the latter is 8 .11. This paper searches differences with the student genders, and among the their grades. The conclusion is that there are no significant differences of reading motivators with reading efficacy and interest in student gender. There are significant gender differences only social interaction, recognition-importance, involvement. Among the student grades, there are no significant differences of reading motivators except for recognition-importance. This factor has significant difference between first grade and third grade. But overall reading motivators` average points of secondary students are on the decrease slow and slow as they get grade promotion.
