현대문화속에서 영적성숙을 위한 리더십

국문 초록 (Abstract)

달라스 윌라드(Dallas Willard)를 필두로 한 미국의 “신학 및 문화 사상가 그 룹”(TACT, Theological and Cultural Thinkers)은 그리스도안에서 성장하기 위해서는 진정한 변혁이 일어나야 한다고 주장하면서, 진정한 변혁이 일어나기 위해서는 1) 하 나님이 주신 사명, 2) 개인적인 삶, 그리고 3) 우리의 공동체에서 무엇이 필수적인 요 소(핵심 개념)인지를 알아야만 한다고 강조하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 현대문화속에 서 그리스도안에서 성장하기 위한 온전한 변혁을 위해서 그리스도인의 정체성, 일상 의 대인관계, 그리고 공동체에서 가장 중요한 핵심개념이 무엇인지를 살펴 보고자 한 다. 특별히 리더십 관점에서 성경에 나타난 예수 그리스도의 외적인 모습이 아닌 예 수 그리스도의 내면의 정체성에 대한 핵심요소, 일상의 제자들과 맺는 삶 가운데의 필수적인 요소, 그리고 예수그리스도께서 공동체에 두고 있는 핵심가치를 살펴봄으로 현대문화가운데 회심중심적 복음을 넘어 그리스도안에서 성장할 수 있는 방법을 모색 해 볼 것이다. 영적성숙은 그것을 위한 특별한 공식이 있는 것은 아니다. 필요한 것은 방향을 설 정해 주는 지도원리들과 상당한 시간에 걸쳐 시행착오를 통해 발전할 실행과정일 것 이다. 따라서 본 논문은 기독교인들이 신앙의 세속화, 사사화, 다원화가 강조되는 현대문화속에 서 영적성장을 위한 진정한 변혁의 모습을 그들의 외적인 모습이 아닌 어 떤 가치관과 삶의 내용을 보여주어야 하는지를 추적하고자 했다. 그 결과, 먼저 정체 성 면에서 있어서는 우리의 내면의 정체성이 ‘주님이 리더되심’을 알고 따라가야 하며, 일상의 삶에서는 우리의 삶의 기준이 ‘따르는 이들을 섬기는’ 주님의 모습을 따라가야 하고, 그리고 마지막으로 공동체 부분에 있어서는 내가 속한 ‘공동체에서 연약함까지 나눔으로 믿음과 신뢰를 보여줄 수 있는’ 참된 제자도를 실천해야 한다는 결론을 내 리게 되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Despite great efforts and countless wonders in the Korean Church, transformation and changed lives have not been the norm. The Theological and Cultural Thinkers (TACT) group, while they knew they could not develop a complete understanding of all the dimensions of spiritual transformation, were aware that they had to go deeper into the greatness and depth of our formation in Christ. This group wants to determine the crucial elements - the key concepts - that have to be present in our personal lives, our communities, and our God-given mission if real transformation is going to take place. As I worked on this article, it soon became clear that I was not going to come up with a formula for developing a spiritual-formation church. What was necessary were guiding principles that would set the direction of spiritual formation and then a process of implementation that would develop by trial and error over a considerable period of time. Serving a community of believers in their formation in Christ is no small undertaking. Spiritual formation is not a program or technique but a careful and painful process that is unique to each community of believers. In this article, I urge that spiritual formation occurs in believers as they engage in personal formation (identity), daily life formation, and community formation. These three dimensions of spiritual development must not be compartmentalized or separated but organically connected. Our formation in Christ occurs in three dimensions. First, we engage in personal formation(identity). This involves taking personal initiative in our relationship with God in regard to our identity - “God is leader.” Second, we are shaped in Christ as we join those around us - “Serving others.” Most leaders in our world exercise authority and power for personal gain and preservation. Even our best leaders, who use their power and authority as a means of serving the people they lead, still retain their primary identity from their role as leader. Relinquishing power and authority to lead seems like a nonnegotiable. In the kingdom of God leaders do not derive their identity from their leadership role. The fundamental identity of every citizen of the kingdom is that of a servant. This should be even more evident in the leaders of the kingdom. Third, we are formed in Christ as we live in community with other believers. -“Becoming a trustable community to embrace vulnerability.” The most basic principle of community is the ability to “trust God and others with me.” It is essential that three dimensions of spiritual formation be done organically rather than in a compartmentalized or isolated way. It is the interaction of these three dimensions that increase their effectiveness exponentially.
