This study was carried out to produce plans for effective human resource management of Public Social Welfare organizations by investigating the degree of them and effect of mentoring experience, mentoring function on the professional Identity. Data were collected from February 15 to March 30, 2007 by conducting a mail survey for 360 social welfare officials that worked in Dong office over 12 district randomly selecred among Public Social Welfare organizations in Seoul. It distributed 210 questionnaires, collected 210 and used 200 questionnaires to analyze. A statistic software, SPSS 12.0 was operated to perform frequency analysis, discriptive analysis, reliability test, factor analysis, x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis. As a result, the social welfare officials that had mentoring exrerience showed higher professional identity than the officials that had no exrerience. The findings of emperical analysis showed a significant effect of psychosocial function among mentoring function on the professional identity with controlled social status variables. Such a result represents that the acceptances, reciprocities, respects become useful base for the successful job performance. Finally, activating of professional and systemeic mentoring system for Public Social Welfare officials is imfortant for the effective service provision and a quality improvement, as well for the effective human resource management.
