The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of utilizing emotional intelligence as the key factor in reducing or preventing violence and latent delinquency in school by examining the relationship between the emotional intelligence, and the school violence attitude and the latent delinquency. The data was collected by questionnaires method from 332 male and female students at middle schools in Gyeonggido. The key results of the study are as follows: First, there was significant relationship between the emotional intelligence and the school violence attitude. This means the school violence attitude was more permissive with lower emotional intelligence. Second, the latent delinquency was greater with lower emotional intelligence. Third, it was found that the latent delinquency was greater with more permissive school violence attitude. Through the results of the study, the importance of elevation of the emotional intelligence to enable the students to have proper awareness and attitude toward school violence and to lower or prevent the latent delinquency was discussed, and the need for seeking of specific means of enhancing the emotional intelligence was proposed.
