교사소진 연구 동향 분석 = Analysis of the Trend of Research on Teacher Burnout

There is a lack of overall research on teacher burnout. even though it is a crucial factor which causes dysfunctional aspects such as avoidance of contact with students, negligence of duty and desertion of duty. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the research trend and to propose directivity for future research by reviewing existing studies on teacher burnout. As causes for teacher burnout, individual factors like type A personality and self-efficacy and environmental factors like role-related factor and job stress factor were investigated. Also, teacher burnout was found to negatively affect teacher``s enthusiasm for job, student``s adaptation to school and school``s educational performance. In relation to the occurrence process of teacher burnout, job demand-control model and job demand-resource model were mainly mentioned, and out of the scales developed for evaluating teacher burnout, MBI scale which is used the most, had a lot of limitations including the problem of validity. Based on these findings, this study suggested the necessity of developing a new teacher burnout scale, constructing a theoretical model for teacher burnout research and conducting studies on factors for reduction of teacher burnout and on the effect of teacher burnout on students.
