노인의 스트레스, 우울, 낙관주의 및 적응유연성의 경로분석 = A Path Analysis of Stress, Depression, Optimism, and Resilience in the Elderly

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation effects of optimism and resilience in association between stress and depression among the elderly. The subjects were 191 elderly over 60 years old who were attending a welfare center, living in Kyunggi-Do. The subjects completed socio-demographic factors questionnaire, stress scale, depression scale, optimism scale, and resilience scale. To estimate the relative effects of each variables, a path analysis was employed. It has been found that the relationships between stress and depression was mediated by optimism, and the relationships between optimism and depression was mediated by resilience. That is, in the path that explains the effects of stress on depression, optimism was found to play a mediated role as it leads to resilience.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 노인의 스트레스, 우울, 낙관주의, 그리고 적응유연성 간의 경로를 알아보고 각 변인 간 관련성 및 영향력에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 만60세 이상 191명의 한국노인을 대상으로 생활스트레스 척도, 우울 척도, 낙관주의 척도, 그리고 적응유연성 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 상관관계 분석 결과, 스트레스는 우울, 낙관주의와 유의미한 상관을 보였으나 적응유연성과는 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 우울은 낙관주의와 적응유연성, 낙관주의는 적응유연성과 유의미한 상관을 나타냈다. 경로분석 결과, 스트레스, 낙관주의, 그리고 적응유연성은 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 낙관주의는 스트레스와 우울 간을, 적응유연성은 낙관주의와 우울 간을 매개하였다. 그리고 스트레스와 우울 간에 낙관주의만 매개로 하였을 때 보다 스트레스가 낙관주의와 적응유연성을 순차적으로 경로하였을 때 우울에 대한 부정적인 영향이 더 적다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉 낙관주의와 적응유연성은 스트레스가 우울이라는 부정적인 정서에 미치는 영향을 충분히 감소시킬 수 있는 변인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
