This paper empirically examines the effect of cultural differences in F&B department of hotels by operation types. Because of technology transfers were generally relationships of culturally heterogeneous organizations in long-term period, it was affected by cultural differences between independent hotels and korean hotels operated by global management contract company. For this purposes, we introduced four cultural factors of cultural difference as independent variable developed by Hofstede(1976), that is power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism-collectivism, and masculinity-femininity into model. And I reviewed a concept of the corporate culture and the organizational effectiveness. And for the empirical study, some data was collected with 8 deluxe hotels` F&B outlets by using self-administered questionnaire method during a half month period between September 1 to 15 in 2001. Some results of the findings are as follows: First, there are some differences between independent hotels and Korean hotels operated by global management contract company. That is, there are significant differences of cultural factors in hotels by operation types, such as power distance, uncertainty avoidance. The independent hotels have strong power distance and little uncertainty avoidance as chained hotels do. Second, the organizational effectiveness is found to be much influenced by the factors such as power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism-collectivism, and masculinity- femininity. Job-satisfaction is influenced positively by uncertainty avoidance, individualism. And Job-involvement is influenced by power distance in negative and by masculinity in positive, Intend of occupation is influenced individualism negatively.
