생명력을 부여한 일상의 이미지에서 자기표현 연구 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로 = A Study on Self-Expression in Daily Image Vested with Vitality :Focused on One's Own Art Work

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this study is to concretely analyze the work exhibited in a private exhibition (<A Story of Cockscomb> October 6～12, 2010, Dongduk Art Gallery) for master's degree application based on a topic of ‘A Study on Self-Expression in Daily Image Vested with Vitality.’ Major topics of this study include discussion over the contents that reinterprets object image in complex natural phenomenon by vesting it with ‘vitality' in one's own perspective by pursuing visual personality of newly observed daily image (an image and a psychological approach based on such image), manufacturing process of the work and diversified formative expressions of the relevant painters.

‘Self-expression’ in this study is to expose individual internal thinking or life to outside by a painter as a private principal and in this case, such principal means the researcher of this study. The works of a person concerned is always based on an experience.
The objective of this study is re-discover and re-establish a relation between a person concerned and others who lead their life under the unstable condition in the contemporary society by metaphorizing and visualizing it through a daily image that vested vitality in interactively discontinued life under the loss of humanity in unconsciously passing time.

In Chapter Ⅰ, objective, contents and method of this study will be explored. In Chapter II, Section 1～3, a theory and thinking that provide major background of one's own creation will be presented through ‘vitality’, ‘daily image’ and ‘relation of cyber space’. In Chapter IV, a correlation between a subjective experience being taken place during the period of self-formation that may be an opportunity of experiencing failure of communication(interaction) and thinking over human relation and current work of a person concerned will be explained.
In Chapter III, Section 1, the works of Egon Schiele (1890～1918) and Frida Kahlo (1907～1954) that are similar to my work that projected individual experience in an object in its working method will be comparatively researched. In Chapter III, Section 2, a meaning metaphorized by ‘Paradoxical Chair’, ‘Flower Vase as a growth’, ‘Interactive Building’ that are a formative features and major image of the work will be searched and a method of visualizing intrinsic meaning of an object will be explored through color and line as a formative elements. By doing so, internal meaning and external form of the researcher's work will be analyzed in an integrated way. In Chapter IV, based on the contents of above study, a result of establishing a self identity was summarized through interaction with others.
In other words, function and role of art were reviewed in terms of formative art as a method of overcoming alienation through an actual exchange with others in a community based on vitality vested in daily object that could be frequently encountered by a person concerned.
As a conclusion of this study, it is expected that emotionally and sensibly positive mind and life vitality would be revived to the audiences under communication with them through the works that expressed images of disposed and wasted objects and plants losing vitality under the consumption society of valuing physical matter and consumption.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 ‘생명력을 부여한 일상의 이미지에서 자기표현 연구’를 주제로 석사 청구전을 위한 개인전 <맨드라미, 이야기> (2010년 10월 6일～10월 12일, 동덕아트갤러리)에 전시한 작품을 구체적으로 분석한다. 일상적 이미지를 새롭게 바라보는 시각적인 개성을 추구하여, 자연의 복합적 현상에서 그것이 가지고 있는 사물의 이미지를 본인의 시각으로 ‘생명력’을 부여하고 재해석한 내용(이미지와 이에 따른 심리적인 접근)과 작품 제작과정, 관련한 작가들의 다양한 조형 어법에 관한 논의를 중심내용으로 한다.
본 논문의 ‘자기표현(自己表現)’이란 사적 주체로서 개인의 내면적인 생각이나 생활을 겉으로 드러내 보이는 것을 뜻하며, 여기서는 본 연구자를 지칭한다. 본인의 작업은 항상 경험에 기반을 두고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 무의식적으로 지나가는 시간의 흐름 속에서 인간성을 상실하고, 상호적 소통이 단절된 삶을 생명력을 부여한 일상의 이미지를 통해 은유․가시화하여, 현대사회 속의 불안정한 모습으로 살아가고 있는 본인과 타인과의 관계를 재발견하고, 재성립 하는 데 있다.
본 논문 Ⅰ장에서는 본 논문의 연구 목적과 내용 및 방법에 대하여 알아본다. Ⅱ장 1～3절에서는 ‘생명력’, ‘일상적 이미지’, ‘사이버 공간의 관계’를 통해 본인의 창작에 주요한 배경이 되는 이론과 사고를 제시할 것이다. 4절에서는 소통의 실패를 경험하게 되고, 사람간의 관계에 대해서 생각하게 되는 계기라고 할 수 있는 자아 형성의 시기에 생겨난 주관적인 경험과 현재 본인의 작업의 상관성을 설명하고자 한다. Ⅲ장 1절에서는 개인의 경험을 사물에 투여하는 본인의 작품과 유사한 작업방식을 가진 에곤 쉴레 (Egon Schiele, 1890～1918)와 프리다 칼로 (Frida Kahlo, 1907～1954)의 작품을 비교 하여 연구한다. Ⅲ장 2절에서는 작업의 조형적 특성이자 주요 이미지인 ‘역설로서의 의자’, ‘성장으로서의 화분’, ‘상호소통으로서의 건물’이 은유하고 있는 의미를 찾고, 조형 요소인 색과 선을 통해 대상의 본질적 의미를 가시화하는 방법에 대해 알아본다. 그렇게 함으로써 본 연구자의 작업이 가진 내적 의미와 외적 형식을 통합적으로 분석한다. Ⅳ장에서는 이상의 연구 내용을 바탕으로 타인과의 상호작용을 통해 자아 정체성을 확립하는 결과를 정리하였다.
주변에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 일상 사물에, 본인이 부여한 생명력으로 현실에서 공동체 속의 타인과의 교류를 위한 소외 극복의 방법으로 예술의 기능과 역할을 조형 예술적으로 검토 한 것이다.
이상의 논의를 마치며, 물질과 소비를 중요시 여기는 소비사회 안에서 버려지고 폐기된 사물과 생명력을 상실해 가는 식물의 이미지를 표현한 작품 을 통해 관람자와 소통하며 정서적, 감각적으로 긍정의 마음과 삶의 생기를 북돋을 가능성을 기대한다.
