소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도 방안 연구 = (A) Study for teaching method on writing essay with the application of novel texts

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도 교수-학습 모형과, 그에 바탕을 둔 논술 쓰기의 절차 및 전략을 구안하여 논술 지도의 한 방법을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다.
국어과 교육은 미래의 정보화 사회를 살아갈 학생들에게 고등 사고 능력을 키워 줄 의무가 있고, 논술이 그러한 고등 사고 능력을 키워 줄 수 있다는 점에서 논술 교육은 중요하다. 논술 교육의 목표는 학생들이 당면한 문제를 깊고 넓게 바라보고, 그 문제에 대한 자신의 성찰 결과를 사고의 순서에 따라서 논리적 방식으로 표현해 내는 능력을 신장시키는 데 있다. 이러한 목표를 달성하기 위해 논술 교육은 문제 해결 과정 중심, 학습자 중심으로 이루어져야 한다.
이 연구에서는 논술의 본질과 학습자의 특성을 고려하여, 논술에 관한 보다 실질적이고 구체적인 지도 방법으로 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도를 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 설정한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도 프로그램은 학생들의 논술 쓰기 능력에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는가? 둘째, 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도 프로그램은 학생들의 논술 쓰기 태도에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는가?
이러한 연구 문제를 해결하기 위하여 제Ⅱ장에서는 논술의 본질과 논술 교육의 바람직한 방향을 모색해 보고, 이 연구의 기반이 되는 과정 중심·대화 중심·장르 중심 쓰기 지도 이론, 학습자 중심·과정 중심 읽기 지도 이론, 그리고 독서와 작문의 통합 지도 이론에 대하여 살펴보았다. 제Ⅲ장에서는 논술 지도 모형과 절차를 제시하고, 구안된 논술 지도 모형을 적용한 학습 지도 과정과 지도 방법을 상세히 서술하였다. 제Ⅳ장에서는 실험 집단과 비교 집단의 사전·사후 검사 결과를 비교 분석하여 이 연구의 효과와 교육적 활용 가능성을 검증하였다. 끝으로 제Ⅴ장에서는 이 연구의 연구 과정을 요약하고 결론을 제시하였다.
본 연구에서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도가 전통적인 결과 위주의 논술 지도에 비해 학습자의 논술 쓰기 능력을 향상시키는데 효과적이었다. 수준별로는 상위 수준의 학생에 비해 중위와 하위 수준의 학생에게 상대적으로 더 효과적이었다.
둘째, 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도가 학생들의 논술에 대한 태도를 긍정적으로 변화시키는 데 효과적이었다. 또한 이 연구에서 구안되고 적용된 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도 모형과 활동들이 논술 지도의 목적과 운영에 적절하고, 흥미 있고 유익하다는 학습자들의 구체적인 반응을 확인할 수 있었다.
이상의 연구 과정과 결과를 분석해 볼 때, 이 연구는 논술 교육과 관련하여 다음과 같은 의의를 지닌다.
첫째, 독서와 작문의 통합을 논술문이라는 텍스트 유형을 중심으로 하여 논의했다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 독서와 작문을 통합하여 지도해야 한다는 통합 언어 교육의 관점을 수용하여 소설 텍스트 읽기와 논술문 쓰기의 통합을 논의하였으며, 그 구체적인 지도 방안을 제시하였다.
둘째, 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술지도 모형을 개발하고, 실제 논술 지도에 적용할 수 있도록 구체적인 자료를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
이러한 연구 결과는 소설 텍스트를 활용한 논술 지도의 가능성을 제시함으로써, 일선 교육 현장에서의 논술 교육의 방법적 개선과 논술 지도의 전문성 제고에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to suggest a method of teaching on writing essay through the exploration of teaching-learning models which make use of novel texts and the procedure and strategy of writing essay based on them. The education of Korean Language Department has the responsibility for enhancing students' higher thinking ability in the future and informed society so there exists the significance of writing essay for which could reinforce superior thinking power.
The instruction of writing essay aims to build up students' capability to recognize problems at hand with profound and extensive point of view and manifest the product of their thought of them in accordance with the order of thinking with logic. In order to achieve this objective, teaching on writing essays should be practiced toward the process of problem-solving and learners.
This thesis makes an attempt to offer a teaching technique which is taking advantage of novel texts as a more practical and concrete method considering the essence of writing essay and learners' characteristics. The questions set for this goal are the following:
first, does the teaching program using novel texts in relation to writing essay have positive effect on the students' writing skills?
second, does the program mentioned above affect students' writing attitude desirably?
To solve these problems, the second chapter investigates the essence of writing essay and its advisable direction and examines such teaching theories, which would become the matrix of this study, as process, dialogue and genre-centered theory, learner and process-centered theory and the integration of reading and writing. The third chapter shows a model of teaching on writing essay and its procedure and describes teaching process and methods in which the argued teaching model on writing essay is applied in detail. The fourth chapter corroborates the effect of this study and its educational usefulness through the comparison and analysis of the result from before and after-examination between experimental group and comparable one. Lastly, the fifth chapter summarizes the whole process of studying and proposes conclusions.
The conclusions generated from this study are the following:
First, the teaching method which is exercised with novel texts is more effective in improving writing essay skill than traditional method which mainly put the weight on result. According to a general standard the method is more helpful for middle and low-level students than high-level ones.
Second, students' attitude on writing essay has effectively changed into positive way due to the teaching method which is using novel texts. In addition, learners' reponses that teaching models and activities which are examined and applied in this study including using novel texts are right for the purpose and management of teaching on writing essay, interesting and beneficial could be approved.
Followed the analysis of the procedure and result of this investigation, this study has meanings with regard to the education of writing essay like the following:
First, it is significant that the integration of reading and writing essay is argued with focused on text type. This study embraces the view of unified language education, discusses the integration of reading novel texts and writing essays and offers the specific teaching methods.
Second, it is meaningful that this study develops teaching model which takes advantage of novel texts and that this study provides concrete materials so that they could be applied in actual teaching on writing essay.
This study can contribute to methodological improvement of the education of writing essay on educational spot and reconsideration of expertise on teaching on writing essay by showing the possibility of teaching which adopts novel texts.
