The Overseas Travel Liberalization, announced by the
Korean government in 1988, has heavily influenced churches in
Korea. It has also brought an increase of opportunities for
missionaries to take part in short-term missions that is beyond
expression.
I want to make sure that short-term missions, emerging
as a trend, imply goal and efficiency. A survey was completed to
see if there were any purpose and vision on short term missions
also, the influence upon the transition from short to long-term
missions in cross-cultural area.
The survey includes the short-term mission training
periods, training materials, inverse reactions during cross-cultural
adaptations, and the shortage or the need of a mission field for
complementary preparations for the upcoming mission groups.
The goal of this paper is to overview the approaches of
short-term missions and if it only focuses on sending
missionaries that will cause a departure from the aim. The aim
is to reflect and overview the important things and helping
churches prepare for short-term missions.
