After the paradigm shift in the archival studies, a study on the community archive is an important keyword. There have also been many examples of community archives. Among these, the most active archive in our country is the archive of local or village community. However, several types of examples of local community archives have been established without reflecting the individuality and specificity of the community and, as a result, have revealed many limitations in the continuation of the archives and use of records. Therefore, this study proposes a library-based local community archive as an alternative in order to ensure continuity of local community archives and local identity, and analyzes the Neutinamu Library Archive as a typical example.
Civilian-led local community activities are limited to continuing their activities because of the problem of the location. The Neutinamu Library Foundation tried to overcome this problem by making a library highly accessible as the hub of the local community to local residents. For this, it pursues the revitalization of local community activities by supporting various local community activities, and aids the operation of libraries in other areas in order to promote local communities. The Neutinamu Library Archive keeps archiving records that are produced as a result of these activities. Records produced by community activities reflect library-based characteristics, including utilization of records as well as classification, registration, and description, because the characteristics are different from the records produced and collected in the public sphere. Therefore, through the proposed case of the Neutinamu Library Archive, this study expects to embody a model of the local community archive based on the library as a realistic alternative to ensure the continuity of it.
