This study categorizes the anxieties that university professors experience by topic, through a topic modeling analysis of English academic literature, which mentions ChatGPT in papers related to university education published in 2023. The background of these anxieties in the era of artificial intelligence and potential solutions are explored. Through topic modeling of data collected via web scraping, 16 categories are extracted. These can be categorized into Professor Anxiety, Professor’s teaching Anxiety, Anxiety about Learners, and Anxiety about ChatGPT. The ‘Professor Anxiety’ category relates to the anxiety professors experience in classroom settings, particularly concerning potential changes to student learning outcomes and evaluation methods attributable to ChatGPT. The Professor’s Anxiety category is characterized by occupational anxiety felt by professors themselves due to changes in the university education environment. The Anxiety about Learners category includes distrust of learners and concerns about an increase in misconduct. The Anxiety about ChatGPT category encompasses anxiety about new technology and artificial intelligence. This study warns of the negative impact that professors' anxiety, which could be triggered by artificial intelligence, may have on university education during times of change. The study recommends fostering trust between professors and learners, active intervention by university administrations, and the implementation of policies aimed at establishing psychological safety for professors. Additionally, it advocates for the re-education of professors to diminish resistance to innovation and alleviate technological anxiety, in preparation for the widespread adoption of ChatGPT in. enhancing university education.
