Steel and PHC composite pile is improved in structural performance combining steel pipe pile with PHC pile by connecting coupler, which are resisted the shear force and bending moment by earthquake load. This paper presented the evaluation of structural performance and field applicability of steel and PHC composite pile combined connecting coupler. The connecting coupler in steel and PHC pile are well performed to distribute the applied loading and combine performance. Experimental and analytical work was planned to evaluate the load carrying capacity in composite pile. And also field test was performed with dynamic and lateral loading applied. Using the results obtain from dynamic loading test and lateral loading test on real structures, the behavior of composite pile is almost the same to the behavior of steel pile. According to considering the characteristics of structures and ground condition, it is judged that the presented composite pile can be one of the best solutions by introducing both steel pile which has a benefit of excellent flexural stiffness and construction efficiency in case of applying proper connection position.
