In previous communications, we reported on the isolation and structure elucidation of new lignans, Americanin A and B, from the seeds of Phytolacca americana. In the course of a continuing study of the lignans, we isolated a new compound, Americanin D, C₁₈H_(18)O_6 (M^+328), mp 197∼200˚; its structure was determined spectroscopically as follows;
