학력기 아동 대상 방과후 프로그램 모형 탐색 = A Model for After School Programs for Elementary School Children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 학령기아동 대상 방과후 프로그램을 보는 관점을 범주화한 후, 각 관점에 다라 프로그램 구성요소의 관계를 결정 짓는 방식을 탐색하여 학령기아동 대상 방과후 프로그램 모형을 정립하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 뷰챔프의 모형개발원리를 적용하였는데, 문헌고찰을 통해 예비 보형을 구성하고 서울시내 8개 기관을 비확율 임의표집하여 교육실제에 비추어 수정하였다. 이를 통해 복지적 관점, 교육적 관점, 지역사회운동적 관점이 삼차원으로 얽힌 입체적 모형이 구성되었다. 이 모형 탐색 연구는 우선 학령기아동 대상 방과후 프로그램에 내재된 관점을 정당화하고 그것을 총체적으로 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이다. 또한 실제적으로는 정책과 제도의 수립, 기관별 설립 및 운영모형에 기본틀이 될 것이고, 내재된 관점을 일관되고 통합적으로 반영한 프로그램 개발에 기초가 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to establish a model for after school programs for elementary school children in Korea. To proceed the study, first, a comprehensive review of related literature was done to conceptualize after school programs. Three conceptions were revealed as education, social welfare, and community services. Within each conception, different features of program purposes and activities were shown and, thus, program elements were interrelated in a linear fashion. No intermingle of conceptions was found. As a result, three separate linear conceptions were established.
Second, to validate and refine found conceptions of after school programs, existing programs were studied. It was found that every studied programs held more than one conception, and, therefore, program features were shown more complicated and program elements were interrelated in a multiple dimensional way. As a result, the linear models were refined as a three dimensional mode. Among three conceptions, educational conception was a key feature of the model in which any after school program should have educational value.
The prime value of the model is to provide some insights into understanding the dimensions and complexity embraced by after school programs. While the model developed in this study is, however, not a step-by-step guide or manual for building an after school program, it still has some practical value. If program developers gain a holistic perspective on after school programs from the model, they will be able to see connected things as related. The model may also be used for a framework to guide further research. It helps researchers to think after school programs as a whole, identify relationships among program elements, measure effectiveness of the programs, and generate many other research problems.
