The present was conducted to elucidate inhibitory principles of Cassia tora against angitotensin-I converting enzyme(ACE), which is one of the hypertension inducing factors.
Methanolic extract of Cassia tora was refractionated into ethyl ether, chlorofrom, ethyl acetate and water fraction. Among these extracts, ethyl acetate extract(90.5%/mg) was more effective. Two active inhibitors(A-1 and B-1) from ethyl acetate extract were isolated and purified by silical gel column chromatography. thin layerchromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. ACE inhibitory activities of these compounds were 58.0 and 32.2% per 100㎍, respectively.
The active compound A-1 was identified as nor-rubrofusarin-6-β-mono-D-glucoside from the profiles of UV, IR and ^(1)1H-NMR.
