조탕과 미두장, 유원지 혹은 악마굴－근대도시 인천의 장소정체성－ = A brine bath and the rice exchange, Amusement park or Devil’s Den－The Identity of place of Modern city Incheon－

국문 초록 (Abstract)

개항지는 국내외의 다양한 경계, 그중에서도 근대적 의미의 국경을 실감케 하는 상징적인 장소였다. 개항지와 같은 장소를 매개로 하여 당대의 많은 조선인들은 조선이라는 내셔널리티 및 일본이라는 제국의 경계를 넘나들며 스스로의 정체성을 형성해 갔다. 이러한 맥락에서 본고에서는 특히 식민지시기 인천을 중심으로 국내외의 경계를 접경으로 체험하도록 만든 장소의 문학적 재현의 양상과 그것에 내포되어 있는 의미에 대해 검토하였다.
일본인 거류지와 월미도라는 유원지의 등장으로 인하여 인천은 경인 각지에서 사람들이 몰려드는 피서지로 명성을 얻게 되었지만, 이로 인한 인천의 이미지의 변화에는 부정적인 요소들도 발견된다. 월미도는 황금광 시대 하룻밤의 가벼운 쾌락을 상징하는 장소가 되었다. 월미도와 함께 인천의 이미지를 대표하는 것은 미두취인소이다. 일본상인들이 곡물거래의 주도권을 쥐려는 것과 함께 곡물의 가격을 이용하여 이득을 얻으려는 투기적 의도에 의해 설립된 미두취인소의 존재는 인천을 악마굴로 표상하도록 만드는 중요한 계기가 되었다. 인천이라는 접경지대를 살아간 주체들과 그 장소를 표상한 존재들이 장소에 대한 자신들의 심리적 지형도를 어떻게 그려냈고, 어떤 문화를 창출했는가를 통합적으로 고찰하는 것은 인천이라는 장소의 정체성을 이해하는데 중요한 맥락을 이룬다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Open port area(開港場) was a symbolic place to realize the various boundaries of domestic and foreign destinations, among them the borders of modern meaning. The existence of Mitsuwin cattle established by speculative intentions that Japanese merchants are trying to grab the leadership of grain trading and use the price of grain together to earn a profit is to put incheon into the devil’s cave. It was an important opportunity to make it represent. To comprehensively consider the entity that lives in the border area Incheon and how the presence representing the place depicted his own psychological topographical map of the place and created several cultures Is an important context for understanding the identity of the place called Incheon.
