에봇인가 궤인가? ―사무엘상 14:18의 사울에 관한 연구 = Ephod or Ark? ―A Study on Saul in 1 Samuel 14:18

국문 초록 (Abstract)

사무엘상 14:18은 단 한 절이지만 100년이 넘는 시간 동안 학계에서 많은 논쟁을 불러일으켰다. 이 구절의 ‘궤(Ark)’라는 표현이 사무엘서의 역사 진술과 상충되기 때문이다. 때문에 많은 학자들이 칠십인경을 따라 ‘에봇’으로 읽을 것을 제안한다. 반면 일부 학자들은 마소라 본문의 읽기를 지지한다. 그들은 이른 바 ‘궤 네러티브’의 역사성에 의심을 품고, 이 구절을 토대로 궤와 관련된 역사를 재구성한다. 그러나 어느 한 쪽도 만족할 만한 해석을 내놓지 못하고 있다. 이에 필자는 문학적 분석을 통해 사무엘상 14:18을 해석하고, 이 구절의 신학적 공헌이 무엇인지 탐구하고자 한다.

1 Samuel 14:18, is just one verse, has caused many controversies in academia for more than a century. This is because the expression “Ark” in this phrase conflicts with historical statements of Samuel. Therefore, many scholars suggest reading it as an “Ephod” along the LXX. On the other hand, some scholars support the reading of the MT. They doubt the history of the “Ark Narrative” and reconstruct the history related to the Ark based on this phrase. However, neither side has come up with a satisfactory interpretation. Therefore, I would like to interpret 1 Samuel 14:18 through literary analysis and explore the theological contribution of this phrase.
