      In order to observe the effect of temperature on phosphate metabolism and the biosynthesis of organic compounds, Saccharomyces uvarum was grown in YM media for 7days at various temperatures(15℃,30℃,45℃). The yeast cells were harvested at certain intervals during the culture and prepared for tracing of contents of inorganic phosphate and organic compounds in the fraction.
      It is suggested that the increased contents of phosphate in DNA, protein and lipid fractions were due to being transferred inorganic polyphosphate to inorganic phosphate. The content of acid insoluble polyphosphate in cells decreased during cultivation. This result indicates that acid insoluble polyphosphate plays the most important role as phosphate pool.
      The optimal temperature for cell growth was 30℃. However, cell division was more delayed significantly at higher temperature (45℃) than lower temperature (15℃), it indicates that the activities of enzymes synthesize DNA, RNA and proteins were suppressed at higher temperature.
