모제스 헤쓰에 있어서 ‘결정론과 의지자유’ 문제와 청년 마르크스 = The Problem ‘Determinism and Will Free’ in Moses Hess and the Young Marx

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 마르크스연구자들 사이에서 논란이 되고 있는 마르크스 역사이론에서의 결정론과 자유의지의 양립 문제의 기원을 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그 연구 방법은 마르크스의 동료 모제스 헤쓰(Moses Hess)에 있어서 ‘결정론과 자유의지의 양립론’을 분석하고 청년 마르크스의 저작에서 그 흔적을 발견하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 한편으로는, 헤쓰는 그의 저작들(1837-1843)에서 역사발전의 합법칙성에 근거해 자본주의 사회는 망하고 사회주의 사회가 필연적으로 온다고 말한다. 다른 한편으로는, 헤쓰는 자본주의 사회보다 사회주의 사회가 더 좋은 사회이기 때문에 의식적으로 실현해야 된다고 말한다. 이 ‘약한 결정론’은 1843-1844년의 청년 마르크스의 ‘약한 결정론’에 영향을 주었다. 1845년부터 역사적 유물론자로서 마르크스는 헤쓰의 윤리적 사회주의를 비판하지만 약한 결정론은 계속 주장한다. 이것이 가능한 지를 알기 위해서는 추가적 논의가 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to clarify the origin of the problem of compatibility between determinism and free will in the Marxian theory of history. This issue is controversial among Marxists. The method of study is to analyze ‘the theory of compatibility between determinism and free will’ in Marx’s colleague Moses Hess and to discover the traces in the work of young Marx. On the one hand, Hess says in his writings (1837-1843), that, according to the law of historical development, the capitalist society collapses and a socialist society inevitably come. On the other hand, he says that because the socialist society is a better society than the capitalist society, people have to realize it consciously. This ‘soft determinism’ influenced the young Marx of 1843-1844. Since 1845, Marx as a historical materialist criticizes Hess’s ethical socialism, but continues to argue for the soft determinism. Further discussion is needed to see if this is possible.
