고린도전서 4:1-2에 나타난 고린도교회의 사회적 정황과 리더십 갈등

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 소론의 목적은 고린도전서 4:1-2에 나타난 고린도 교회의 사회적 정황을 재구성하고, 이러한 정황에 놓여 있는 교회를 향해 보내진 본 서신, 특히 고린도전서 4:1-2 본문이 어떠한 의미를 가지며, 그 역할이 무엇이었는가를 고찰하려는 것이다. 고린도에 바울이 설립한 고린도 교회는 바울이 떠나간 이후에 아볼로가 리더십을 승계하여 교인들을 양육하였다. 하지만 아볼로가 고린도 교회를 떠난 이후에 고린도교회는 리더십 갈등으로 파당을 짓고 분쟁을 일삼았다. 이러한 파당과 분쟁이 지속되는 고린도교회에 서신을 보냈다. 고린도전서 1-4장 단락이 포함된 서신을 보내는 바울은 아볼로를 동역자로 묘사하기도 하면서, 동시에 바울이 놓은 토대 위에 일하는 자라고 언급한다. 바울은 본 서신에서 아볼로를 동역자로 인정하면서도 자신이 먼저 된 자임을 시사한다. 이러한 보도에는 4:1의 ‘우리’, 곧 바울을 포함한 사도들이 고린도 교인들에 의해서 평가를 받고 있는 정황을 반영한다. 이와 같이 판단 받는다는 것은 고린도전서 1-4장에 반영된 고린도 교회의 문제인 파당을 짓고 분쟁을 일삼는 교회의 상황과 일치한다. 왜냐하면 고린도 교회의 교인들이 파당을 짓고 분쟁을 일삼게 된 것은 어떤 다른 이유보다도 고린도 교인들이 바울을 포함한 사도라 칭할 수 있는 리더십들을 판단하는 데서 기인하기 때문이다. 이러한 판단의 결과, 고린도 교인들은 자신의 기호에 따라 파당을 짓게 되었고, 자신이 속한 파를 주장하며 자랑을 일삼고 있었음을 볼 수 있다. 이에 대해 바울은 고린도 교인들로 하여금 자신을 본받아 서로 동역하는 자가 되고, 리더십인 사도들에 대한 판단을 주님의 오시는 날까지 중지할 것을 촉구한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to reconstruct the social context of the Corinthian church in 1 Cor 4:1-2 and to explore the meaning and role of the text sent to the church. The Corinthian church established by Paul was ministered by Apollos after Paul departed. However, after the departure of Apollos the Corinthian church suffered from divisions and conflicts among its members. In this social context of conflicts, Paul sent the letter to the church. Especially in 1 Cor 1-4, Paul designates Apollos as his co-worker and the one who is working on the foundation laid by him. In other words, in the letter Paul acknowledges Apollos as his co-worker while alluding his original leadership and contribution to the church. “Us”-Apostles, including Paul himself-in 1 Cor 4:1 reflects the social context in which they were judged by the Corinthian congregation. This judgment also reflects the social problem of divisions and conflicts among the church members since this social problem is attributed to the judgment against the leadership of the Apostles. As a result of the judgment, the Corinthian congregation was divided by their individual interests and boasted their own factions. In order to resolve the social problems within the Corinthian church, Paul strongly urged the Corinthian congregation to stop the judgment against the Apostles and to become co-workers in Christ, imitating his leadership.
