치아종과 관련된 석회화 치성낭종 = Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst associated with Odontoma in the Mandible

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 증례는 하악 정중부및 좌측 골체부에 거대한 무통성 종창을 주소로 순천향대학 천안병원 치과, 구강외과에 내원한 19세 남자환자로 임상증상, 방사선소견및 조직소견을 통해 아주 드물게 발생하는 치아종과 연관된 석회화 치성낭종(typeⅠb)이라는 진단하에 외과적 적출술을 시행한후 지금까지 별 특이 소견없이 양호한 결과를 얻었기에 보고하며 향후 재발 가능성에 대한 장기간 추적, 관찰이 요할것으로 사료된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The calcifying odontogenic cyst(C.O.C) is a rare lesion having feature of both a cyst and solid neoplasm. It was identified as a pathological entity by Gorlin & his coworker in 1962.
The C.O.C is histologically characterized by the presence of a lining epithelium exhibiting a striking resemblance to enamel epithelium and by the presence of masses of ghost cells often undergoing keratinization and calcification.
There is no evidence sex predilection. The lesion may appear at any age but is more frequent during the second decade. It may be observed in any tooth-bearing area of the jaws. Variable amounts of calcified radiopaque material in the lesion is scattered throughout the radiolucency, ranging from tiny flecks to large masses.
The lesion often occurs in association with a variety of odontogenic tumors. Among these, odontoma is most often found in relation to the C.O.C.
This report presents a case of C.O.C associated odontoma in a 19 year-old-male, and discuss clinical radiographic, histological & therapeutic aspects.
