Objective : This study investigated how exercise programs affect the attention of children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Methods : The study searched the Research Information Sharing Service, Korean studies Information Service System, DataBase Periodical Information Academic, Science on, and PubMed databases to gather studies conducted between January 2019 and March 2023 using “ADHD,” “attention,” and “exercise program” as search terms. Among the results, seven studies met the inclusion criteria.
Results : All seven studies found that exercise programs significantly improved the attention of children and adolescents with ADHD. Significantly positive effects were also observed on their motor functions, self-confidence, and impulsivity.
Conclusion : This systematic review confirmed the effectiveness of exercise programs for children and adolescents with ADHD. These results suggest that such children and adolescents could benefit from the effects of exercise programs.
