인포그래픽으로서의 의궤그림 연구 = A Study of the Painting in "Uigwe; The Royal Protocols of the Joseon Dynasty" as an infographic

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1866년 프랑스 해군에 의해 약탈되어 프랑스국립도서관(BnF, Bibliotheque nationale de France)에 보관되어 있던 외규장각 의궤가 145년 만에 한국으로 돌아왔다. 왕실의 각종 행사들을 기록한 의궤는 조선 시대의 생활상을 상세히 볼 수 있는 귀중한 자료이다. 의궤는 조선초기부터 시작되어 조선이 멸망하는 약 300년 동안 지속적으로 제작되었으며, 2007년에는 세계문화유산으로 등재되어 세계적으로도 높이 평가되고 있는 소중한 문화유산이다. 그 동안 의궤는 병인양요 시기의 약탈과 화재 등으로 국내에 남아있는 자료가 많지 않아 연구에 어려움이 많았으며, 연구 범위 또한 역사와 복식, 음악과 음식 등 몇몇 특정 분야에서만 고증의 형태로 연구되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 외규장각 의궤 반환에 대한 연구자의 다큐멘터리 영화인 <꼬레엥2495 Coreen2495, 2005> 의 제작 과정에서 수집해온 자료들을 바탕으로 인포그래픽스로서의 의궤그림을 연구하고자 한다. 특히 순조가 생모 박씨의 회갑 때 행하기 위해 제작한 기사진표리진찬의궤(己巳進表裏進饌儀軌)를 중심으로 의궤그림의 특징과 인포그래픽스(Infographics)로서의 가치를 연구하고자 한다. 의궤는 그림-Image과 글-Text로 구성된 기록이라는 측면에서 인포그래픽으로서의 가치를 태생적으로 지니고 있으며, 정감(情感) 표현이 풍부한 그림으로 다채로운 내러티브를 형성하고 있어 효과적(Efficient)이면서도 예술적인(Artistic) 방식으로 정보를 전달하고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 의궤그림의 특징을 인포그래픽스의 관점에서 고찰하여 우리의 문화 속에 내재된 정보디자인의 역사적 원류를 찾고 그것이 현대 사회에 갖는 의미를 재조명하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Oe-Kyujanggak Uigwes, the royal protocol of the Joseon dynasty in Korea, looted by French navy in 1866 and had been stored in Bibliotheque nationale de France, BnF have come to Korea for 145 years. The Uigwe documenting the royal ceremonies in detail is a historic asset which delivers the vivid portraits of Joseon dynasty. The Uigwe had been continuously manufactured more over 300 years from the early dynasty to the fall of the Joseon. In 2007 the Uigwes have been registered as world heritage by UNESCO and globally valued as precious cultual asset. However the scarcity of the domestic materials on Uigwe from pillages and fire in wartime makes it difficult to study Uigwe and the research territories are limited to historical studies by conventional approach on costume, food, music and so forth. This paper approaches to the Uigwe as an infographics based on the materials collected in producing the feature documentary film <Coreen2495, 2005> about the Oe-Kyujanggak Uigwes. In particular Kisajinpyorijinchanuigwe depicting the 60th birthday banquet of Mrs Park, the mother of King Sunjo is being closely examined to find the quality as infographics inherent in the Uigwe paintings. Documented with texts and images, the Uigwe has a value as infographics from the scratch and delivers diverse informations efficiently and artistically with various narratives in sentimentally rich paintings. With the characteristics of Uigwe paintings as infographics, this paper proves the original value of information design inherent in Korean history and re-illuminate it in modern society.
