국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 피터 아이젠만 건축에 나오는 Index／Code의 개념을 파악하여 건축디자인에 적용하는 목적에서 시작되었다. Code에는 다양한 의미가 있기 때문에 다른 방식의 표현 또는 재 표현을 필요로 한다. 이러한 재 표현으로 인해 본래의 대상이 본질적으로 변하게 되며, 따라서 새로운 대상을 생성하는 특징을 가지고 있다. 이러한 Code의 특성을 활용하여 건축에 적용한 아이젠만의 The City of Culture of Galicia를 분석한다. 이 자료를 토대로 새로운 건축 표현에 대한 가능성과 그 특징들을 파악해 본 후 그 진행 방식을 나의 건축 디자인에 적용시켜 진행해나간다.
Peter Eisenman의 갈리시아 문화센터 프로젝트는 산티아고 지역이 담고 있는 상징으로부터 시작되었다. 이 프로젝트의 유전자 소스는 코키유 요리를 담는 조개껍질로, 이것은 산티아고의 상징이자 오래된 도시센터 계획의 상징이었다. 이 상징물을 기반으로 여러 관련 자료들이 Index로써 사용된다. 사용 되어진 Index로는 첫번째 산티아고의 중세도로 패턴 지도, 두 번째 추상적인 카르테시안 격자무의, 세번째 3차원으로 영사한 원래의 언덕 현장의 위상면이다. 이 세 가지 Index들이 오래된 도시센터 계획에 Code화 되어 외부적으로 드러나게 되는 과정을 거치고 있다. 이것은 고대의 상징을 내부적인 어떤 코드장치로 유전적 변형을 시키는 작업이라 할 수 있다. 종교적으로 사용되었던 센터의 흔적들을 그 유전적 기초로 하여 비종교적인 문화센터를 물리적, 형태적으로 구분되어 재 표현 하고 있다.
서울엔 한강이 있고 한강의 중심엔 노들섬이 있다. 노들섬의 Index는 한강과 관련지어 진 물리적인 것들이나 역사적 사실에서 찾을 수 있다. 1917년 인도교를 세우기 위해 흙을 돋워 만들어진 것이 중지도의 탄생이다. 이처럼 노들섬은 Landscape의 변형으로 인해 생겨난 섬으로써 1973년 한강의 개발로 그 주변의 모래사장까지 사라져 완전한 섬으로 나타났으며, 이름도 중지도에서 노들섬으로 개명되었다. 이러한 변화의 사실이 노들섬의 가지고 있는 역사적 Index라 할 수 있다. 이러한 사실에 중점을 둬 Landscape의 변화되어가는 모습을 노들섬에 재표현 해보고자 한다.
우선 노들섬의 예전 모습을 2차원 면에 투사하여 하나의 그리드 면으로 인식한다. 현재 변화가 일어난 이후의 노들섬 대지에 단면의 모습을 뽑아내어 변화가 일어난 이후의 땅의 모습을 알아낸다. 원형의 형태에서 변화된 형태로의 변화과정을 임의의 힘을 가하거나, 물의 퇴적 및 세절 작용의 데이터를 적용하여 다양한 방법으로 재 표현을 시도한다. 이러한 재 표현 방법은 통해 노들섬의 Index를 내부적인 조작을 통해 코드화하여 노들섬의 엣 지형의 형상을 새로운 외부형상으로서 재표현 되어 나타낸다. 이러한 건축적 표현 방법을 통하여 노들섬이 예전에 가지고 있던 흔적과 기억을 되살리며 장소에 대한 가치를 되찾게 할 수 있는 건축적 표현방법으로서 제시하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study has the aim to understand the concept of the index／code in the structure of Peter Eisenman's architecture and apply it to the structure design. A code has various meanings so it needs different style of presentation and representation. In the process of this representation, the original object can be changed essentially and at times it is changed to absolutely new one. This study analyzes the work of Eisenman, The City of Culture of Galicia, using this code traits. After grasping the possibility and traits of the new expression of the structure on the base of this data, the progress method has been applied to my work. The project of Galicia culture center began from the symbol of Santiago. The gene source of this project was the shell taking the coquille, and it was the symbol of Santiago and the old plan for the city center. On the base of this symbol, many related materials are used as index. The first is the pattern map of medieval street in Santiago and the second is the abstract cartesian cross stripes. The third is the phase of original hill spot that is projected in three dimensions. These three indexes are coded in the old city center plan and have the process of revelation outward. This is the work of genetic change of ancient symbol to an interior code device. The traces of the center which used for religion has been represented, on the base of that gene, as the non-religious culture center divided into physical and structural one.
There is a Han river in Seoul, and in the middle, there is Nodeul island. The index of Nodeul island can be seen in the physical things related to the Han river or in the historical facts. In 1917 Jungji-do was born in the way of building Indogyo adding soil. Nodeul island is the result of the transformation of the Landscape. With the development of Han river in 1973, even the sandy beach round connecting it to the shore disappeared so that it became a complete island and the name was changed to Nodeul island from Jungji-do. This change is the historical index of Nodeul island. On this I design the changing shape of Landscape in the Nodeul island.
At first, this study projects the previous shape of Nodeul island into a two dimensional plane and recognize it as a grid. From the ground of changed shapes, the sections show the shape of changed earth. The forces of water such as accumulation and grinding operation of river basin change the original form. With this representational method, a code for index of Nodeul island was made through interior operation, and then the old shapes of earth was represented into the new exterior shapes. This study endeavors to suggest this constructive method as a way of reviving the traces and remembrance of Nodeul island.
