정약용의 『상서(尙書)』 백편 이해 = Jeong, Yakyong`s Understanding of Shangshu 100 Chapters

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 정약용이 1834년에 작성한 『상서고훈(尙書古訓)』 「상서서(尙書序)」에 나타나는 『상서』 백편에 대한 이해 방식을 검토하기 위해 작성되었다. 정약용의 『상서』 연구는 유배기와 해배기로 구분할 수 있다. 유배기의 연구는 『매시서평(梅氏書平)』 『고훈수략(古訓蒐略)』 『상서지원록(尙書知遠錄)』으로 나타나는데, 『상서』 백편의 서문인 「서서(書序)」에 대한 연구는 경문(經文)이 전해지는 58편의 서문과 고훈(古訓)을 정리하고, 이에 대한 자신의 견해를 간략하게 밝히는 수준이었다. 해배기의 연구는 『상서고훈』 「상서서」로 나타나는데, 여기에서는 『상서』 백편의 서문 전체와 그 고훈을 모았다. 정약용이 이용한 자료에는 유교 경전과 한대 학자인 정현(鄭玄)의 주석, 사마천(司馬遷)의 『사기(史記)』, 청대 학자인 모기령(毛奇齡)과 염약거(閻若據)의 연구와 자신의 저작인 『매씨서평』과 『상서지원록』의 성과가 반영되었다. 정약용은 이러한 작업을 통해 『상서』 백편의 순서를 바로잡고, 매색(梅穡)을 비롯한 후대 학자들이 원문을 변개(變改)한 부분을 일일이 찾아서 논증했다. 정약용은 『상서』 연구를 통해 공자가 지은 것으로 알려진 「서서」의 원형을 복원하고, 고훈을 통해 그 의미를 밝히려 하였는데, 특히 옛 기록의 원형을 찾아 복원하는데 많은 노력을 기울였다. 정약용은 『상서』 연구의 목적을 옛 것을 제대로 알아 현실에 적용시키는데 두었는데, 이는 경학 연구를 통해 유교 경전에 나타나는 경세학의 이념과 모범적 해결 방안을 찾아내는 방식이었다. 필자는 정약용이 「상서서」를 연구한 목적도 이와 동일하다고 생각한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to research Jeong, Yakyong`s understanding of Shangshu(Classic of History) 100 Chapters appeared in Shangshuguxun(Classic of History`s Old Commentary). Jeong`s research of Shangshu divided into two periods. The first one is the time he was exiled to Gangjin area, he gathered old commentaries of Shangshu 58 chapters handed down until today and made a brief mentions of his opinion. The second one is the time after coming back to his hometown, he gathered old commentaries of the preface of Shangshu 100 chapters totally. His data came from Han and Tang Dynasty`s commentaries to Qing dynasty`s commentary and his own book. Jeong, Yakyong corrected the order of Shangshu 100 Chapters and made clear the texts of preface one by one which were changed by the younger scholar like Meize. Jeong did his best to restore the original preface of Shangshu 100 chapters and to explain the meaning of the preface. Jeong, Yakyong`s prospect of studying Shangshu was to know ancient system accurately and to apply the system to the real life. When Jeong studied the confucian classics, he made efforts to discover the idea or the solution which could solve the real problems. I think Jeong`s prospect of studying the preface of Shangshu 100 Chapters was the same.
