WeconductedaprincipalcomponentanalysisofPM<sub>2.5</sub>(particleswithadiameter≤2.5μm)atfoursiteslocatedinChungcheongnam-do,aprovinceofSouthKorea,todeterminethelevelofpollutionandcharacteristicsofPM<sub>2.5</sub>componentsateachemissionsource.ThefourmonitoringsitesincludedasteelcomplexnearSongsan-myeon(SS)area,apetrochemicalcomplexnearDokgot-ri(DG)area,aresidentialcomplexnearMojong-dong(MJ)area,andavillagenearNaepo(NP)area.Samplescollectedatthesesiteswereanalyzedandtheconcentrationsofmass,ion,carbon,andelementinPM<sub>2.5</sub>werecompared.ThemassconcentrationswerefoundtobethehighestinSS,followedbyMJ,DG,andNP.TheconcentrationofdominantionspecieswererecordedinaascendingorderofNO<sub>3</sub><sup>-</sup>>SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2+</sup>>NH<sub>4</sub><sup>+</sup>inMJandSO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>>NO<sub>3</sub><sup>-</sup>>NH<sub>4</sub><sup>+</sup>inSS,DG,andNP.TheresultsindicatethatMJhadthehighestNOxconcentration,whichisemittedbyautomobiles.Moreover,MJexhibitedthehighestorganiccarbonconcentrationof5.67μg/m<sup>3</sup>andelementalcarbonconcentrationof0.51μg/m<sup>3</sup>.TheanalysisoftheelementalcompositionofPM<sub>2.5</sub>indicatedasignificantlyhigherconcentrationofFe,Zn,andMninSSandAs,V,andNiinDG.DifferentcomponentanalysisresultsfromeachemissionsourcesuggesttheneedtounderstandthedistributionofpollutantsineachregionwhileestablishingmeasurestoreducePM<sub>2.5</sub>levels.
