일반논문 : 소비자생활협동조합 이사회의 성역할 정체감, 지배구조, 그리고 경영성과 = Sex Role Identity, Governance, and Performance in Consumer Co-operatives

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 여성 중심으로 구성된 생협 이사회의 성역할 정체감이 지배구조와 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 실증 분석한 것이다. 국내 생협 중 매출액 규모가 가장 큰 아이쿱(iCOOP)소비자활동연합회 소속 지역조합 이사회를 연구대상으로 내부 자료와 설문조사를 통해 수집한 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 이사의 성역할 정체감이 지배구조와 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 주고 있고, 둘째, 여성성과 남성성이 동시에 높은 ‘양성성’ 이사회가 좋은 지배구조를 구축하는데 긍정적 영향을 줄 수 있고, 셋째, 형식적 지배구조 보다는 내용적 지배구조가 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 준다는 것이다. 본 연구는 ‘여성’과 ‘협동조합경영’에 관한 이론과 실천에 시사점을 줄 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aims of the research are: (1) To identify the structural relationship between the sex role identity of Board of Directors (BODs), governance and financial performance, (2) To identify the structural relationship between the sex role identity of BODs, governance and non-financial performance. The authors surveyed 44 primary consumer co-operatives in iCOOP Korea, the largest Korean consumer co-operative. The sample included 328 directors (323 female directors and 5 male directors). The results of structural equation models show that the sex role identity of BODs significantly affects their governance and performances. It is gender not biological sex that has a significant impact on governance and performances. Especially, androgyny makes directors’ activities more energetic and increase directors’ participation. Thus, performances may be improved when the sex role identity of BODs becomes more androgynous.
