It is clear that the answer to the question “In sport art?” presupposes some kind definition of both sport and art.
However, in the last 25years there have been dramatic changes in aesthetic the orizing as the fundamental enterprise of defining art under attack by philosophers influenced by the ideas of Wittgenstein.
This paper has two major purpose.
One is to examine the question “Is sport art?,” to look at the presuppositions and implications of the question, and to cla rify some of the issues.
A second major purposr is to look at some of the tradit ional assumptionsregarding a project of definition and to suggest hou one might attemt to answer the question.
In is not a purpose of this paper to provide a claer answer. In conclusion, an attemt is made to present a way of “defining” art and sport so as to answering the question “Is sport art?”
