연극 활동 기반 소집단 언어치료가 요양병원 입원 치매 노인의 의사소통 능력에 미치는 효과 = Effects of Theatre-based Group Language Therapy on Communication Abilities of Nursing Home Patients with Dementia.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 연극 활동 기반 소집단 언어치료가 치매 노인의 의사소통 능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 요양병원에 입원 중인 세 명의 치매 노인을 대상으로 연극 기반 소집단 언어치료를 실시하고 그 과정과 결과를 분석하였다. 치료 프로그램은 웜업, 체험 회상하기, 연극 활동 기반 심청전이야기하기로 구성하였으며 치료 전후에 나타난 참여 노인의 의사소통 변화 양상을 살펴보기 위해 웜업 활동 시의 자발화, 체험 회상하기 및 심청전 이야기 하기에서의 담화 능력을 C-unit, 총 낱말 수(NTW), 서로 다른 낱말 수 (NDW), 음절수 주제 적합도로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 자발화 분석에서는 참여자들의 NTW와 NDW가 유의한 차이를 보였으나 담화 분석에서는 음절 수에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 연국 활동을 기반으로 한 치매 노인 대상 소집단언어치료가 의사소통 능력 향상에 효과가 있었음을 의미하며, 이는 소집단 언어치료와 연극치료의 접목 가능성을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to verify effects of group language therapy based on theatre activities on communication abilities of nursing home patients with dementia. Three nursing home patients with dementia have participated to this theatre-based group language therapy. All of therapy processes were registered and analyzed. We have collected data of three types: spontaneous utterances in warm up, and narrative discourses in individual experience activities and in theatre activities. These data were analyzed by discourse elements such as C-unit, NTW, NDW, number of syllables, and topic maintenance. According to t-test result, in spontaneous utterances during warm up, NTW and NDW significantly increased after the therapy. In narrative discourses of two types` activities, the mean scores of C-unit, NTW, NDW, number of syllables increased, but these changes were not statistically significant except the number of syllables. These findings indicate that theatre based group language therapy can be useful for improving communication abilities of elderly persons with dementia.
