Objectives : Various perioperative complications can be encountered in sinus elevation procedure, and these complications may lead to implant failure if we cannot manage properly. So We studied perioperative surgical complications in the cases of sinus elevation with simultaneous implant placement. We evaluated 23 patients (28 sinuses) treated with sinus lifting and simultaneous implant placement cases from June, 1996 to January, 2000.Perioperative complications in this study are followed, 8 sinuses of sinus membrane perforation (29%), 5 sinuses of postoperative infection (18%), 4 cases of wound dehiscence (14%) and one cases of sinusitis (4%).In the sinus membrane perforation cases, there were no loss of dental implants in spite of sinusitis developed in one case. Postoperative infections were occurred within one month and subsided within 3 months after surgery but didn’t developed the sinusitis. We can managed these infections with irrigations or surgical debridements.
