A Study on Revitalization of
Local private Archives

This study stressed that the Local private Archives should be revitalized for efficiency of records management of local located in a systematic dead zone in addition to a domain of public records management.
Additionally, this study suggested that the Local private Archives for preserving and managing archives of a non-current step in a private domain such as companies, organizations and local residents, etc. inside a region are necessary.
For this, the Local private Archives are not a completely new concept, and its conceptual origin was introduced through Business Archives. This research confirmed that as the ‘Regional business Archives’ obtaining and preserving various records to understand economic structure of the local society are possible by gradually expanding from a single corporate archives.
It is to use records efficiently as social assets. It is able to recognized that the establishment of Local private Archives comprehensively managing economic records as well as records of various fields of the region would be possible in a process of this systematic development process.
The Local private Archives should have the specialty and identity because of characteristics of archives. This study aimed to suggest a vision of Local private Archives that the official·private·academic sectors cooperate. Therefore, this study composed effects that can be expected through Local private Archives according to the subject.
The suggestion of these effects considering the standpoints of official, private and academic would become foundations for revitalization of Local private Archives. However, the respective effect can be said to be naturally related to each other.
The Local private Archives will function as not only a place for simply preserving archives but also a place for utilizing archives of various fields, developing this to education, exhibition, research, exchange and PR, etc. as well as a place for identity of a region.
As the archives should be understood in the viewpoint and context of the region by considering the identity and utilization, etc. of the region, it needs to be preserved inside the region, and the importance and value of private archives would be getting larger in a local unit.
But the most important thing is that the local members should recognize the necessity that they should well manage and preserve the archives and participate. The local members need to seek social demand and local necessity themselves and recognize that the archives, which are the source of information, are public assets.
