문법 오개념에 대한 인식론적 고찰 = An Epistemological Approach to Grammar Misconceptions

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 문법 오개념의 ‘오(誤)’를 ‘참/거짓’ 차원이 아니라 ‘인식론적 정당화’ 차원에서 이해하는 관점이 문법교육에 주는 시사점을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 학습자의 정당화 방식을 가상적으로 구성한 후 각 사례에 내재한 인식론적 문제를 검토하는 연구 방법을 사용하였다.
그 결과 최소 토대론과 정합론의 관점이 문법 오개념 논의에 주는 시사점을 다음의 두 측면에서 확인하였다. 첫째, 문법 오개념 논의에서 학습자의 언어적 직관에 주목하고 언어적 경험 제공이 필요한 경우를 식별할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 외현적으로 드러난 문법 오개념만을 논의의 대상으로 삼아서는 안 되고, 문법 개념 간의 연관성을 탐색하는 과정을 통해 학습자들이 오개념을 새롭게 발견하고 자각하는 경험을 할 수 있도록 해야 한다.
본 연구는 문법 오개념 논의의 인식론적 기반을 제공했다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 앞으로 현대 인식론과 교육적 인식론의 논의를 바탕으로 문법 오개념의 인식론적 문제에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 이어져야 할 것이다.

This study aims to examine the implications of grammar education in comprehending grammar misconceptions in terms of “epistemic justification” rather than “true/false” dimensions. To achieve this, we employed a research method to construct learners’ justification cases and review the epistemological problems inherent in each case. The results are as follows. First, from the viewpoint of minimal foundationalism it is necessary to examine learners’ linguistic intuition and identify cases wherein linguistic experience is required. Second, from the viewpoint of coherence theory learners should be enabled to realize misconceptions through the process of searching for the connection between grammatical concepts. This study is significant as it provides the epistemological basis for grammar misconception discussions. Based on contemporary and educational epistemology, studies on the epistemological problems of grammar misconceptions should be sustained.
