Faculty development in higher education has recently been concerned among campus administrators and educational reformers. Despite many universities have devoted to developing programs to help faculty improve the performance of their professional responsibilites, the main focus of programs has been on supporting faculty members' research activities by neglecting their instructional improvement. The purpose of this study was to discuss some issues on instructional development of faculty in the context of faculty development. Recent programs for faculty members' instructional development in the US were examined in light of finding ways of hew our educational institutions can help faculty improve their teaching and thus positively impact student learning.
