디지털 테크놀로지의 발달과 다큐멘터리 스토리텔링 방식의 변화 = A Study on the Development of Digital Technology and the Change of Documentary Storytelling

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the change in the mode of documentary storytelling according to the development of digital technology. The development of digital technology such as a compact and light digital camcorder, non-linear editing system, and computerized special effect programs makes a new documentary appear. The items that documentary can deal with have been expanded due to the digital technology. The documentary dealing with the inside of the human body or human psychology has appeared. The documentary dealing with the ancient natural history has also appeared. To find out some considerable changes in documentary storytelling after the digital technology has introduced, 11 documentaries were examined. The results are as follows: The expression domain of documentary has been changed a lot. The way of structuring a story, however, has little been changed. It shows a lack of effort in seeking novelty in the way of constructing a story, as only devoting to expansion of the capabilities of visual expression. Thus, it is needed to try more diverse storytelling approaches in documentary.
