The conversion of glutamate to glutamine by glutamine synthetase was studied using ATP regenerating system which is consisted of coupled pyruvate kinase-phosphoenolpyruvate system and immobilized ATP.
Two new bioactive polymeric ATP analogs, poly-glycidylmethacrylate-ATP and copoly-glycidylacrylate-N-vinylpyrrolidone-ATO were synthesized and were found to be regenerated efficiently in glutamine synthetase-pyruvate kinase regenerating system. Optimum conditions for the Glu-Gln conversion using ATP regenerating system were established and extended applications of synthetic polymeric coenzyme derivatives in the continuous synthesis of useful substances in membrane bioreactor were suggested.
