제 3문화 아이들(Third-Culture Kids: TCKs)의 문화적소속감 부재와 심리적안녕감 간의 관계 : 적응유연성의 매개효과 = Relationship between and Cultural Homelessness of Third Culture Kids(TCKs) and their Psychological Well-Being : Mediating Effects of Resilience

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 해외 거주 관련 변인에 따라 문화적소속감 부재, 심리적안녕감, 적응유연성의 변인들에 차이가 나타나는지 파악해 보고, 문화적소속감 부재와 심리적안녕감 간의 관계에서 적응유연성이 미치는 매개효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 구체적인 연구 대상은 해외에 1년 이상 거주한 경험이 있으며, 서울, 경기, 지방대도시 소재 일반학교 및 국제 학교에 재학 중인 총 163명의 중·고등학생들로서, 2016년 4월~7월에 걸쳐 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 심리적안녕감과 적응유연성은 문화적소속감 및 애착부족, 문화적 고향 부재, 문화적 고향 필요와 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 귀국 시기가 늦어질수록 문화적소속감 및 애착부족, 문화적 고향 필요의 점수가 높게 나타났으며, 심리적안녕감과 적응유연성은 한국에 10년 이상~15년 미만 거주한 경우가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 문화적 소속감 부재의 하위요인인 문화적소속감 및 애착 부족과 심리적안녕감 간의 관계에서 적응유연성은 완전매개 효과를 보이는 것으로 드러났다. 따라서 제 3문화 아이들의 적응유연성의 향상을 통해 문화적소속감 및 애착 부족이 심리적안녕감에 미치는 부적인 영향을 감소시켜 줄 것이라 추론해 볼 수 있다. 끝으로 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 상담에 적용될 수 있는 구체적인 함의점을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine the difference of third culture kids in the aspects of cultural homelessness, psychological well-being and resilience and the mediation effect of resilience on the relationship between cultural homelessness and psychological well-being. The subjects in this study were 163 middle·high school students living in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Provincial centers who had resided abroad more than one year. Major findings were as follows. First, psychological well-being and resilience had significant negative associations with lack of cultural group membership and attachment, lack of a cultural home, need for a cultural home. Second, older of age returning to their home country corresponded to greater levels of lack of cultural group membership and attachment, need for a cultural home. Besides, psychological well-being and resilience of the students who have lived more than 10 years less than 15 years in Korea were the highest. Third, the mediation effect of resilience on the relationship between lack of cultural group membership and attachment and psychological well-being was confirmed. So, if resilience of TCKs could be enhanced by improvement of protection factors, negative effects on psychological well-being could be reduced. Some suggestions were made for counseling Third Culture Kids based on the results.
