Test bed for the long-term health monitoring system for bridge structures employing FBG sensors, which is remotely accessible via the web, was constructed to provide real-time quantitative information on a bridge’s response to live loading and environmental changes, and fast prediction of the structure’s integrity. Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensors and FBG temperature sensors were employed in the monitoring system. Investigation on the behavior of a steel arch bridge under live loading and environmental changes was conducted based on the data collected from the remote health monitoring system.
