This study aimed to optimize recycling rate in Jet Loop Reactor process with high organic loading. Experimental results were summarized as following : values of SVIs, which was sludge volume index stirred with baffle were ranged 25 to 60 mL/gr in Jet Loop Reactor process. These values were lower than those for conventional activated sludge, 65 to 90 mL/gr. As the organic loading rate was ranged 5 to 10 kgBOD/m³/day, optimal recycling rate was calculated 60.8 to 77.7 %. Empirical model developed for predicting settling flux from SVIs data was Nₐₛ=Xᵢ·(0.0102 SVIₛ+6.7342)·e⁻⁽⁻⁰·⁰⁰⁰⁰³ SVI₂⁻⁰·⁰⁰⁰⁸ SVIₛ⁺⁰·²¹¹⁵⁾·Xᵢ at SVIs, 25~60 mL/gr. Consequently, a state point concept could be used to monitor solids flux through the activated sludge process and to optimize activated sludge process operation.
