The purpose of this study was to examine the state of offences committed by adolescents in South Korea spanning a period of a decade. This study collected 989 newspaper article reports of juvenile offences beginning from the year 1998 until July of 2007. The data were analysed by using content analysis and frequency analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, according to this study, juvenile offences were on the rise and occurred more frequently during specific situations such as winter season, night time, roadsides, small towns, and over the internet. Most notable was the increase in offences committed over the internet. Second, property crimes recorded at the highest rate and there was a significant increase in the number of female juvenile offences and those committed by chilren under 14 years-old. Third, there was an increase in the number of offences committed together in groups, instead of individuals committing offences. The network of accomplices tended to broaden in scope. Fourth, there was no significant difference in the sex of the victims during the last decade. However, offences committed against adults declined, while offences committed against peers increased, notably those who belonged to same student groups, victims of exploitation, those who became acquainted through the internet.
