가계의 영유아 자녀양육비 = Household`s Consumption Expenditure Spent for the Preschool Children

This study investigated the consumption expenditure spent for the preschool children in the household. The categories of the consumption expenditure included food, goods and services for personal care, clothing, health care, and culture and entertainment. The levels of household expenditure in the 32 consumption items from the above 5 consumption categories were surveyed from the 588 households living in the five major cities in S. Korea. Consumption expenditures of the 32 consumption items were analyzed in terms of income elasticities, consumption coverages, and the levels of expenditures. The differences in the consumption expenditures among the households with different characteristics in terms of the number of children and the age group of the children were analyzed applying chi-square test, t-test, and GLM analysis. Based on the results of the data analysis, the implications for the public polices supporting the child raising costs of the households and for the construction of the market basket for children`s goods and services were suggested.
