The purpose of this study was to investigate relative influence of mother’s responsiveness, teacher-children intimacy, and quality of mother-teacher cooperation on children’s social competence. The subjects of this study consisted of 267 mothers and 267 teachers of young children who were 20 to 46-months-old attending to 14 kindergartens located in Wonju city. The data were collected by mothers and teachers who responded questionnaires, and analyzed by frequency, percentage, primary factor analysis, Cronbach’s α, t-test, F-test, Scheffe test, pearson correlation, and regression analysis using SPSS 12.0 program.
The results of this study were as follows:
First, for boys, the higher mother’s responsiveness and quality of mother-teacher cooperation were, the higher their thoughtfulness was. Second, as for boys, the higher mother’s responsiveness, teacher-children intimacy and quality of mother-teacher cooperation were, the higher their sociability was. As for girls, the higher mother’s responsiveness was, the higher their sociability was. Third, as for boys, the lower mother’s responsiveness and teacher-children intimacy were, the higher their aggression was. As for girls, the lower mother’s responsiveness was, the higher their aggression was. Fourth, as for both boys and girls, the lower mother’s responsiveness were, the higher their atrophy was.
