This study focused on Martin Buber`s ``I and Thou`` and Erich Fromm`s ``To Have or To Be`` concerning the way of human beings and relationships, Buber would say that no one exists in isolation as just an I and no I exists without a Thou. That is, I only exists in relationship to the other. Buber understands I as a ``between existence``. Erich Fromm classified the understanding of the existence according as existing patterns. Both existing patterns and ways of life would be altered when one`s existence focuses on either possessive manner or existential one. Buber shared Fromm`s view; we always exist in one of two relationships, and only when being as a ``between existence``, the existence could be a real one that is dematerialized. The importance of relationship and existence has an unconditional impact in counseling. If you meet a client who had been branded as a possessive object, materialized one or diagnoses. Understanding the existence has an impact on someone`s attitude to relationship, eventually it affects the consequences of counseling. In conclusion, contemplating the way of human beings and relationships make counselors being more mature for themselves, respectful of clients and treating human beings to uphold their dignity in all areas of life as well as having wide recognition to have new relationships.
