2017년 프랑스 총선의 청년 정치대표성 결정 요인분석 = Youth Political Representation in France: An Analysis of the 2017 Legislative Elections

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

According to the IPU Youth Participation in National Parliament 2018, France is the country where the rate of the under age 45 parliamentarians has increased the most in the world. How could the newly rising parties including the LREM party nominate a large number of young candidates? And what factors can explain outstanding performances of these young candidates in the 2017 French legislative election? This research aims to analyze the increase of the youth political representation in France with the three structural factors: demand, supply and political system. The previous researches argue that three political institutional factors including electoral system, age eligibility to contest elections, and the youth quota make difference in youth political representation. However, the post-2017 French election case demonstrates that the role of political parties and the adoption of the new rule that limits the cuncurrent posts had influenced on the election of many young politicians.
